Background
My name is Giulio. Some people spell it right, some other just about.
I see illustration and graphic design as a tool to help people and try to make a better world. I believe that the life we live is the result of what we do, the actions we take and the way we think. I've never loved the idea of working just for the sake of it, but of course we all need the money. I make an effort not to forget to make the most out of my routine.
Having a nice time at work and knowing more people is an example.
I consider my life a battle with myself and the world, i try to bring a little bit of happiness, positivity or at least a smile to it.
Where do I come from?
I was born in Lecce (Italy), then moved to Perugia, Florence and now I've been in London for about five years. Before studying graphics, I've always wanted to become a doctor, following the influence of my family generational pathway.
After one year of studies, I decided it wasn't my thing.
I've always had a special eye for those who suffer, and believed that if a smile can't fix things, sometimes it can make them easier.
In london I had worked for four years at the Rio Cinema, supporting myself through my studies. I'm currently working for Dolce & Gabbana and I've been with the company for about 9 months. I'm a Stock Controller there for three days a week, enough to keep myself independent. For the rest of the time I work freelance, do graphics, illustrations, t-shirt designs, websites. I also work as a supporting artist for occasional movies, TV series and advertisements. I'm also a personal accountant and book-keeper for an amazing writer named J. May.
I spend the rest of the time riding a vespa and loving my girlfriend.
What I like
Solving problems, laughing and make people laugh, making people happy, being part of things, I like when my hard work is recognised. I like helping people, being busy, learning new things, looking for details, doing things as planned, writing, watching people and imagining their existence, imitating people, I like old motorbikes and cars, getting dirty, building things, making things, fixing stuff, Doo Wop music, dancing, I like all animals, the sun (not the paper), taking pictures, hanging out with friends, eating and cooking good food, pizza, my girlfriend Jacqueline, riding my vespa with Jacqueline, nice houses, well looked after gardens, old things, suitcases, crates, boxes, wooden things, things made of steel, mechanical stuff, digital geeky stuff, pastel colours, kawaii characters, screen printing, old textures, old paper, I love knowing about paper stocks, Uni Posca markers, 0.8 line drawing pens...
