Embroidery Commissions
We specialise in bespoke embroidery commissions for individuals, collectors and commercial commissions.
Every commission begins with an idea, not a production method. Rather than asking you to choose between traditional chainstitch or digital embroidery, we'll first understand your artwork, intended use and objectives before recommending the process best suited to your project.
Whether you're commissioning a single piece or multiple pieces, every project is approached individually and developed around the work itself.
Choosing the Right Process
Traditional chainstitch and digital embroidery solve different production challenges. Neither is inherently better or cheaper; each has its own strengths. Once we understand your project, we'll recommend the approach that's most appropriate.
Traditional Chainstitch
Our chainstitch embroidery is produced using antique hand-operated embroidery machines dating from the 1920s–1940s. Every stitch is guided by hand, creating the depth, texture and subtle variation that define the craft.
Because there is very little technical preparation before production begins, chainstitch is particularly well suited to one-off commissions, unique pieces and small editions where craftsmanship and individuality are central to the work.
Digital Embroidery
Digital embroidery requires considerably more preparation before production begins. Every design must first be translated into embroidery instructions, tested, refined and sampled before it is ready for production.
Once this preparation has been completed, embroidery becomes consistent and repeatable, making digital embroidery particularly suitable for larger quantities and projects requiring scalability.
Digital embroidery is not necessarily the lower-cost option. Large or complex artwork often requires extensive preparation before the first piece can be produced, meaning traditional chainstitch may sometimes be the more appropriate—and even more economical—solution.
We'll always recommend the embroidery process best suited to your artwork, quantity and intended application.
Existing Artwork & Original Design
We can often work from existing artwork, provided you created it yourself or have permission to use it. Where appropriate, we can also develop original artwork as part of the commission.
If artwork requires adapting for embroidery, we'll advise you before production begins. Original design and creative development are quoted separately according to the scope of the project.
Commissioning & Pricing
Every commission is quoted individually according to the artwork, embroidery process, placement and quantity involved.
Our minimum commission value is £250. This allows us to properly assess the project, prepare production and deliver work to the standard expected of the studio.
If you're unsure which approach is right for your project, simply tell us about your idea. We'll guide you through the options before preparing a quotation.
Every project is different and the questions below help us understand your brief before recommending the most appropriate creative, technical and production approach.
