Loyle Carner - Type 1 jacket

Here’s a bespoke commission I designed and embroidered for singer and songwriter, Loyle Carner. The text is a section from one of Benjamin Zephaniah's poems; one of Loyle’s favorites. I worked on this beautiful, single-pocket 506xx Type 1 trucker jacket by Levis Vintage Clothing. This is a gorgeous reproduction of a 1940s jacket that Levis produced back in the day. I decided to select a very visual and candid paragraph of this poem. I thought the nature of the analogy expressed in the writing, would fit perfectly with the origin of this jacket. I’ve imagined this to be a phrase written somewhere in the 40s, maybe in chalk, in capital letters. Naive but truthful and 100% committed. In this commission, like in all my work, narrative and authenticity are two of my main focuses.
