Wedding Floral Jacket

Back in March 2022, I had the pleasure to design and embroider this piece for @jackteare big day. I have been making floral motives before and I had a loose idea to create a new piece for the right client. Jack gave me the opportunity to come up with something new and it was just how I envisioned it.

I wanted something colorful but playing with the limitation of a two-color base. I wanted a folk note and razor-sharp consistency in the lines. Something graphic but traditional. I wanted it to feel like a celebratory burst of joy but at the same time be an ordered and elegant piece.

Since I started my design path I’ve often questioned my place in each brief. There is something I call “design karma”. It’s when you enjoy designing something and you see it works. People keep asking you to make that thing and then you go into overdrive. That’s all you do and all you get asked. Sometimes you re-use assets, other times your head is elsewhere and you just wait for the money to come in. Until you get to the stage where you already spent your money before it came. It’s safe and somehow predictable.

When I can, I try and add something new to the mix and prevent things to stagnate. This floral piece is just one of those moments! Hope you like it.
